PRBSA MAJOR LEAGUE PROGRAM (11-12)
Major League – (11-12) Majors is a competitive league for 11 and 12 year old boys. It will continue to build on the fundamentals learned in Minors while introducing them to a few new things like “leading” for base runners and balking for pitchers. We also move to 3 outfielders instead of 4. All the skills learned during this league are used to prepare the boys for Major League rule.
The season will start in April and teams should expect to have 2 weekly practices with a possible scrimmage all weather permitting. During the month of April coaches will be working on the fundamentals of baseball and team play while preparing players for the regular season of games. Pitching and hitting will be emphasized along with the introduction to the new rules (leading and balking).
Starting in May the teams will compete in 2 games weekly and an occasional practice. Practice time can be difficult during the regular season because of weather and make-ups but we are going to try to have scheduled practices during the season. Teams should expect to play between 14-16 regular season games. At the conclusion of the regular season there will be 1 week of playoffs to determine the regular season champion. Standings will be posted on the PRBSA website.
While winning is not the primary emphasis, it is a component of the game and coaches are going to compete to win games. Players will have an opportunity to play multiple positions during the season as ALL players will have to rotate between the infield and the outfield. Specific position will be determined by the coaches according to ability level and safety of the athlete.
Games and practices will be held at Pine Park fields 1 & 2. Any questions can be directed to the League Director.
