Regardless of a girls age or skill level, the PR Girls Softball Association has abundant opportunities for the beginner, the recreational player, or the girl who wants to be challenged and has aspirations of playing for the local school, college or even at the Olympic level.

PRGSA has many alumni that currently play for Pine Richland High School, as well as colleges and universities such as Laroche, Edinborough, Theil and Mercyhurst. 

Our coaches are handpicked and have passed stringent child safety and security background checks. 

PRGSA is a member of the Greater Pittsburgh Girls Softball Association (GPGSA) and abides by the rules and regulations of the American Softball Association and National Softball Association.

  • The girls (player) age is as of December 31st.
  • Players cannot play down in an age bracket.
  • Most U8 games are "in house" and invlove little to no travel.  Beginning at the U10 levels, travel to local fields with random placement playoffs follow the season.

Indoor Fast pitch Slow pitch Softball Clinics will be held Sunday's 9:30 am - 11:30 am at the PineRichland Youth Center through April 2008.  Girls of all ages and skill levels are invited to participate. Contact Michael Flynn, Softball Director at drmike95@aol.com for additional information.

Softball U8 Manager Pitch(7-8)

 

Manager Pitch focuses on the fundamental softball skills of hitting, fielding, throwing and base running with the emphasis on player safety and fun.

  

  • Manager Pitch is an in house instructional league for girls 7 & 8 years of age as of December 31st.
  • No prerequisite league or experience is required.
  • Managers or Coaches pitch to their own team from a distance of 30 feet or

    closer to accommodate the players ability.

  • Base distance is 55 feet.

 

U8 Softball Rules


 

Softball U10 Slow Pitch (9-10)

  • U10 Softball continues the emphasis of basic softball skills for girls 9 & 10 years of age as of December 31st.
  • Development of field management begins.
  • Bases are 60 feet with the pitching distance 35 or 40 feet to accommodate skill levels.
  • 11 players are permitted on defense, 5 are outfielders.
  • Games are 6 innings with a 10 run rule after 4 innings.
  • All rules revert to ASA Official Softball Rules.
  • There are no restrictions on the number of innings per game a pitcher can pitch.

 

U10 Slow Pitch Rules


Softball U12 Slow Pitch (11-12)

  • U12 Softball continues the emphasis on basis softball skills and field management for girls 11 & 12 years of age as of December 31st. 
  • Game length is 7 innings, with 10 run rule after 5 full innings.
  • 10 Players are permitted on defense, 4 of which are outfielders.
  • Official ASA pitching distance in 46 feet, but may be decreased to 40 feet to accommodate skill levels.
  • There are no restrictions on the number of innings per game a pitcher can pitch.
  • Base stealing does not apply.
  • All rules revert to ASA Official Softball Rules.

     

    U12 Slow Pitch Rules


Softball U15 Slow Pitch (14-15)

  • U15 Softball offers competitive slow pitch softball with emphasis on refining basic softball skills and continues field management for girls 14 & 15 years of age as of December 31st.
  • Game length is 7 innings, with 10 run rule after 5 full innings.
  • 10 players are permitted on defense, 4 are outfielders.
  • Official ASA pitching distance is 50 feet, but may be decreased to 46 feet to accommodate skill levels.
  • There are no restrictions on the number of innings per game a pitcher can pitch.
  • Base stealing does not apply.
  • All rules revert to ASA Official Softball Rules.

 

U15 Slow Pitch Rules


Softball Senior Slow Pitch (16-18)

  • U18 Softball offers competitive slow pitch softball for girls 16-18 years of age as of December 31st.
  • Game length is 7 innings, with 10 run rule after 5 full innings.
  • The infield fly rule applies.
  • A continuous batting order applies.
  • 10 players are permitted on defense, 4 are outfielders.
  • Official ASA pitching distance is 50 feet, but may be decreased to 46 feet to accommodate skill levels.
  • There are no restrictions on the number of innings per game a pitcher can pitch.
  • Base stealing does not apply.
  • All rules revert to ASA Official Softball Rules.

 

U18 Senior Slow Pitch Rules


 

Softball U10 Fast Pitch (9-10)

  • U10 Softball introduces the basic fast pitch softball skills for girls 9 & 10 years of age as of December 31st.
  • Development of field management begins.
  • Bases are 60 feet with the pitching distance 35 feet.
  • 10 players are permitted on defense, 4 are outfielders.
  • Games are 6 innings with a 10 run rule after 4 innings.
  • All rules revert to ASA Official Softball Rules.
  • A player can pitch no more than 3 innings per game. 1 pitch to a batter constitutes a full inning pitched.
  • Girls pitch until there are 4 balls on the batter, then coach/manager pitch is employed.
  • A base runner may steal 2nd or 3rd base.

 

U10 Fast Pitch Rules


Softball U12 Fast Pitch (11-12)

  • U12 Softball continues the basic and advanced fast pitch softball skills in a competitive atmosphere for girls 11 & 12 years of age as of December 31st.
  • Advanced field management continues.
  • Bases are 60 feet with the pitching distance 40 feet.
  • 9 players are permitted on defense, 3 are outfielders, no player can sit the bench for two consecutive innings.
  • Games are 7 innings with a 10 run rule after 5 innings.
  • All rules revert to ASA Official Softball Rules.
  • There is no restriction on the number of innings a pitcher can pitch.
  • The 3rd strike rule does apply.
  • A base runner may steal 2nd, 3rd base and home plate.

 

U12 Fast Pitch Rules


Softball U15 Fast Pitch (13-15)

  • U15 Softball offers advanced fast pitch softball skills in a competitive atmosphere for girls 13-15 years of age as of December 31st.
  • Advanced field management continues.
  • Bases are 60 feet with the pitching distance 40 feet.
  • 9 players are permitted on defense, 3 are outfielders, no player can sit the bench for two consecutive innings.
  • Games are 7 innings with a 10 run rule after 5 innings.
  • All rules revert to ASA Official Softball Rules.
  • There is no restriction on the number of innings a pitcher can pitch.
