PRBSA offers baseball and softball programs for boys 3-18 and girls 3-18. Our leagues are structured for the beginner, the recreational player, and competitive player, with an emphasis on teaching and having fun.

This is a separated league for 7 and 8 year old boys. It will teach the basic fundamentals of baseball. Unlike tee-ball, however, players signing up for this division should be prepared both mentally and physically for a faster paced game, including the use of a hard ball, strike-outs and also unlimited base running.

The season will begin with a series of instructional practices thru the month of April. Parents can expect two scheduled practices a week depending on weather. Beginning in May, we will try to schedule 2 weekly games and a practice. This will last through the last week of June. There will be approximately 15 games.

Even though one of the goals of this league is to raise the competitive level, parental involvement is highly encouraged. Parents without any prior coaching experience, but with a fundamental knowledge of baseball are encouraged to volunteer for managerial and coaching positions. Parent volunteer Umpires will also allasebbe needed.

We will provide instructional materials to parents, willing to help as managers, to help them plan their practices.

All players will be hitting from a coach pitcher. The goal throughout the season will be to gradually speed up the pitching to prepare the boys for the minors when the kids begin pitching. They will also be coached on other fundamental skills such as base running, fielding, throwing, and positional play. Learning good sportsmanship will also be a goal of this league. The most important goal, however, is to have fun!

All games and practices will be held at Richland Park, fields 2 and 8 and also at the Wexford Elementary fields. We will try to put together an end of season Manager Pitch Tournament. We will also do our best to make sure that every team gets to play at least one game “ under the lights “ and Field an All Star Game or two.
